Its chemical structure makes PPS a very resistant polymer with very good mechanical strength even in temperatures of over 200°C. In addition to low water absorption, PPS also has good dimensional stability and demonstrates outstanding electrical properties. Moreover, PPS is also very chemically resistant even at increased temperatures. PPS has a high heat deflection temperature under high mechanical load.
The most common semi-finished product made from this material is Techtron® HPV PPS. This modification displays an excellent combination of properties in relation to wear resistance, mechanical capacity, and dimensional stability even when in contact with chemicals and high temperatures. Techtron® HPV PPS’ application areas are all of those where PA, POM, PET and other plastics are not suitable or where a more affordable alternative to PI, PEEK, or PAI is desired in less demanding high-tech applications. Its homogenously distributed solid lubricant enables Techtron® HPV PPS to have an excellent wear resistance and low sliding friction coefficient. It overcomes the drawbacks of unfilled PPS (high sliding friction coefficient) and the glass fibre reinforced PPS (excessive wear of mating surfaces) for sliding elements.
Excellent combination of impact resistance and increased strength. It is reinforced with 15% glass fibre and can be used in continual temperatures of up to 180°C and for short periods even in those up to 240°C.
This material has a significantly increased strength with 40% glass-fibre reinforcement. It is FDA approved and can be used in continual temperatures of up to 210°C and for short periods even in those up to 260°C.
